Speaking on Fox News on Tuesday night, Donald Trump elaborated on his policy to deport all illegal immigrants.
"We’re losing so much to so many, and we have to bring our country back," he said. "We have at least 11 million illegals in the country, not only the jobs they've taken but everything else. If you look we've spent last year—$113 billion dollars on illegal immigrants—we have to do something about it and we have to start by building a wall."
But is this a radical view, or part of the establishment view?
In March of 2013, the GOP released a 97-page report commissioned in the wake Mitt Romney's loss to President Obama.
The party said it is “marginalizing itself,” adding that in the absence of major change, “it will be increasingly difficult for Republicans to win a presidential election in the near future.”
It also called for the abandonment of the party’s anti-immigration stance, flatly declaring that the GOP “must embrace and champion comprehensive immigration reform.”
Can Republicans ever win the White House again?
Here to weigh in is Jon M. Huntsman Jr., the former Republican governor of Utah and former ambassador to China under President Obama. He is currently the chairman of the Atlantic Council.
